Recording without taking out a phone can be convenient. It also changes the conversation with the person in front of you. Our first question is whether people nearby understand what is happening, rather than camera resolution.
In its July 2026 privacy explanation, Meta describes a capture indicator and a safeguard disabling the camera if the light is covered or disabled. This is manufacturer information, not our independent test or proof that everyone recognizes the indicator.
Separate models and functions before choosing. A product family is not a single specification sheet. Check the exact model, phone requirements, feature languages and regions, and documented processing and storage options. Don’t pay for a demonstration that does not match the version you receive.
Our social advice is simple: ask before recording, even when you can do it discreetly. Dinner, work and family gatherings are not automatically production sets. Enthusiasm for a tool does not settle other people’s expectations.
Would we buy solely for the AI label? No. We would define the use first, then assess comfort and clear controls. This is not a hands-on review or legal or medical advice.
